About this camp

The Aerospace Engineering & Mission Design Lab is a structured, college-level foundation course (grades 7–12) built to develop genuinely strong aerospace concepts — not a survey camp. Across six live 90-minute sessions, students progress through a deliberate sequence: aerodynamics and flight mechanics, aircraft systems and propulsion, aviation weather and navigation, drones and AI in aviation, and satellites, orbits, and space systems. Each topic is taught at a college introductory level and made accessible through visual explanation and guided practice.

What sets the Lab apart is that every session includes a hands-on lab in college-level simulators — students fly, plan, and engineer in the same kinds of tools used in university aerospace courses, turning each concept into something they actually do. The course culminates in a capstone mission design: each student builds and defends a 5–7 slide technical presentation covering mission objectives, system design, constraints, engineering trade-offs, and risks. Small cohorts (10–12 students) are led by instructors with backgrounds in aerospace engineering, aviation, drones, physics, robotics, and space systems. No prior aerospace experience is required.

What a typical day looks like

Each 90-minute session pairs a college-level concept walkthrough with a hands-on lab in a college-level simulator — students apply the week's topic directly — building week by week toward a capstone mission-design defense.

Best suited for

Curious students (grades 7–12) interested in airplanes, rockets, drones, satellites, or space missions who want a structured, college-level foundation beyond a basic camp — and a future in engineering, aviation, CS, robotics, physics, or space science.
