About this camp

The Data4All High School Workshop introduces Chicago high school students to the data science research lifecycle and essential computational skills for data analysis and visualization. Participants learn the Python programming language from scratch and apply it to real-world datasets, including public health case studies like COVID's impact in Chicago communities. The program emphasizes inquiry-driven research in small groups, fostering critical collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills. Students gain experience investigating data problems, performing statistical analysis, making predictions, and presenting their findings. The curriculum is designed to bridge introductory computer science concepts with applied data science research, preparing students for future academic and career pathways in STEM fields, particularly data science and AI.
