The UIC CHANCE STEM Academy – Engineering is a two-week intensive, in-person program designed to introduce incoming UIC engineering freshmen to the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Participants engage in hands-on experiences and innovative project-based activities to strengthen problem-solving and quantitative skills. The program focuses on providing a strong academic and social foundation for college success through math preparation sessions, writing workshops to enhance college-level communication and critical thinking, and academic skills development covering time management, study strategies, and goal setting. The curriculum incorporates interactive classroom activities, hands-on learning experiences, and guided tours of laboratory spaces and key technical resources to familiarize students with the engineering environment. Successful participation may also make students eligible for a Fall and Spring scholarship.
