About this camp

The IMPACT Engineering Experience at UIC offers ambitious high school students an immersive introduction to mechanical and industrial engineering. Participants engage in hands-on labs, rapid prototyping, and problem-solving using real-world tools and technologies. Students work in the Engineering Design Lab, Fluids Dynamics Lab, and CAD design studio, utilizing rapid prototyping tools to build, code, and fabricate solutions to complex challenges. The curriculum bridges the gap between theory and practice through hands-on experimentation. The program also provides exclusive access to the UIC Engineering campus, including guided tours of active research labs and the UIC Makerspace, offering a comprehensive view of an undergraduate engineering career. Students rotate through intensive engineering modules designed to build skills in fabrication, logic, and design, covering topics like design engineering, automotive engineering, applied AI, fluid dynamics, and smart manufacturing.

What a typical day looks like

A typical day involves morning project and design challenges, followed by lunch at the UIC Student Center East cafeteria, and then more project and design challenges in the afternoon.
