About this camp

The UIC CHANCE Program - STEM Academy – Engineering is an intensive two-week program designed to introduce incoming UIC engineering freshmen to the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. This academically rigorous program provides hands-on experiences and aims to strengthen foundational STEM skills. Participants will engage in math preparation sessions to enhance problem-solving and quantitative abilities, innovative project-based activities, and writing workshops to improve college-level communication and critical thinking. The academy also focuses on academic skills development, including time management, study strategies, and goal setting. Students will explore campus resources and participate in peer-to-peer community-building activities to foster a sense of belonging and collaboration. The program incorporates interactive classroom activities, hands-on learning experiences, and guided tours of laboratory spaces and key technical resources to familiarize students with the engineering environment. Successful participants may also become eligible for a Fall and Spring scholarship.
